Everyday we as humans make thousands of choices. We decide if we are going to get out of bed, brush our teeth, brush our hair, wash our face, get dressed, put on our shoes, goto work/school, get in our car, drive our car.. and the list goes on. Some choices seem to be automatic and really no choice at all.. We choose to act with certain attitudes, we choose to speak certain words, we choose to feel different feelings. Ultimately though that free will to decide is used throughout our lives continuously every moment of everyday. For small things and big things.
Our choices begin in our mind. What we do with them from there determines the outcome of our life.
So I now have to ask these questions.
1. Will I be a people pleaser? A me pleaser? Or a God pleaser?
2. Will I control my thoughts? My emotions? My actions?
3. Will I look inside of me and be completely honest about what is in there?
4. When I find something inside of me that is frightening or angry or hard to deal with, will I continue to ignore it? Will I face it and deal with it? Will I let it go?
5. Will I admit when I am wrong?
6. Will I change?
7. Will I love and forgive?
All of these questions, are choices.. And everyday I choose in one way or another the answers to all of them. By my thoughts, actions and words. Even if I do not speak aloud my choices, I define the answers everyday.
Every choice we make starts with a thought in our mind. What happens with that thought is up to us.
Do we dismiss it? Do we let it linger to think on? Do we let it alter us? Do we give way for it to grow roots?
Our thoughts, feelings and emotions belong to us. We do NOT belong to them. We have free will to choose what thoughts we have.. which in turn alters our feelings and emotions.
If you think (thoughts) on the happiest moment in your life - you will soon feel happiness (feelings)..
If you allow the happiness to linger you will be in a good mood (emotions)...
If you think (thoughts) on the saddest moment in your life - you will soon feel sadness (feelings)...
If you allow the sadness to linger you will be in a bad mood (emotions)...
I am who I am, I am where I am, I have what I have, I don't have what I don't have because of the CHOICES I made.
I control and have full rights and responsibilities to ALL the thoughts and feelings and emotions raging inside of me. I then choose how to act or react to others utilizing these very choices every moment of everyday.
Very, very very true, my dear. I love this post! It's a great reminder for the day to focus on what God has done for us, and that thought life that makes us who we are even as Christians. If I have negative thoughts, what kind of witness can I be. Christ is love and all things good. If I've got this inside of me, what else is there to dwell on?! Brings life into focus. Thank you.
